I was excited that I lost weight even while enjoying the holidays!

As indicated by at least 3 TV infomercials I wanted to learn how to combine and time the various food groups to burn fat and lose weight fairly easily.  I wanted to eat healthy and control my high cholesterol and blood pressure as well.

Deb agreed to help me realistically attain my goal. She very graciously supplied me with knowledge, recipes and lots of encouragement.  The knowledge she supplied included many things such as inner self awareness, many, many hints to enjoy and really sense eating, as well as suggesting exercise.

I do cook a bit more, have learned to read labels closely, and get the recommended amounts of food groups daily.  With Deb’s guidance and support, by today’s scale, I have lost 7 pounds.  I have bounced between 7 and 12 pounds during the program (holidays are tough).

Deb was recommended by another health care professional.  I was at a very frustrating time in my life, and was looking for a different approach.  After the death of several close friends I had become very anxious and I was looking for solutions to my problems that did not involve drugs.  I was also concerned about my nutritional needs and found my family doctor did not have expertise in the area of nutrition.  It had also become obvious to me, that most medical doctors are too quick to prescribe medications, with little thought given to the side effects of the drugs they prescribe.

One of the most important aspects of Deb’s approach is her desire to provide you the time to thoroughly discuss your concerns.  She is a good listener! I still see my family doctor, but Deb provides you with ample time for exploration of possible solutions.  You do not have that feeling that you better say what you have on your mind quickly or your time will be up.  She has also provided me with written follow ups to our appointments.

Right now, with Deb’s help, I feel more confident that I am on a path to wellness.  She has guided me to possible nutritional and herbal supplements to help with the anxiety and also with my reflux symptoms and osteopenia.  She has also suggested books to read which have led me to a deeper understanding of the role of nutrition in our health, both mental and physical.  I now feel more in control of my health decisions.

As Deb has been my Nurse Practitioner for awhile now, I completely entrusted her and her advice on my healthcare. This year our family unfortunately had 4 people pass away in the first four months of the year and with that I was under a great deal of stress from all of the events that had taken place. On top of that, I also work in an outpatient mental health facility where there’s plenty of stress as one can imagine in that kind of an environment on a daily basis. It was enough of a stress that I wasn’t sleeping, only getting a mere 3-4 hours per night of sleep. Knowing that Deb took more of a holistic approach to healthcare, I went to her because I was under a lot of stress and I was not sleeping. I am one who if there is an all natural way to heal the body, that is the way I’d rather go. As I trusted her advice, I did exactly as she had suggested. I can honestly say with the couple suggestions she made, my stress level has certainly diminished and I, on a average night, get consistently between 8-9 hours of sleep. I know when I wake in the morning, I wake up refreshed and ready for the day. It’s truly been too long since I’ve been able to say that and I have Deb to thank for it all. :-) Deb, I don’t know what I’d do without your suggestions and I know that should anyone run into the same situation that I have been in, I will be more than happy to send them your way.
